Cuentitos: A Storytime with the National Museum of the American Latino
About this Event
Latinos of Montclair is proud to launch Cuentitos, a new storytime series that brings Latino stories, culture, and traditions to young readers and their families. Our first edition features a special visit from the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Latino.
What to Expect
🎨 Rincón Creativo | 12:00–4:00 PM
Each Cuentitos features a themed craft curated to the day's stories. With Natt's Treehouse, little artists will bring this edition's books to life with a hands-on project they can take home as their very own obra chiquita.
📖 Storytime & Activities | 1:00–2:00 PM
Two read-alouds celebrating Latino family traditions:
- Please, Pass the Tamales! by Silvia López, illustrated by Mirelle Ortega. This story introduces young readers to tamale-making traditions across the Americas.
- My Sister's Quinceañera by Delia Ruiz, illustrated by Elisa Chavarri. This story captures the joy of family, celebration, and all the sparkle of this special fiesta.
After the stories, the Smithsonian's Young Ambassador will lead book-inspired activities, including coloring sheets, word searches, and more.
🛍️ Children's Vendors | 12:00–4:00 PM
