Discover the beauty, symbolism, and enduring traditions of Romanian folk art in the heart of Saint Paul.
Crossing Threads: Romanian Motifs in Minnesota is a free exhibition at Landmark Center exploring traditional Romanian embroidery, textiles, decorative motifs, and the stories they carry across generations and continents.
Through intricate patterns, handcrafted works, and symbolic designs, visitors can discover the meanings behind motifs found on traditional clothing, household textiles, and folk art—and explore how these traditions have helped preserve connections to family, identity, and cultural heritage within Minnesota’s Romanian-American community.
The exhibition also introduces visitors to the Romanian traditional blouse, or ie, whose artistry and craftsmanship are recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
