Crossing Paths is a collaboration between poets Jean Atkin and Richard Skinner, a book of poems about walking, place, nomenclature and nature. A fascinating conversation in verse between two acclaimed poets – each writing in response to the other’s hiking–inspired poem. This Wilderness and Other Concerns, by Martin Kennedy Yates, is an exploration of journeys into wild and forgotten spaces – urban and rural – lonely and liminal – physical, psychological and spiritual. Its title poem is a centenary response to T.S. Eliot’s The Waste Land set in contemporary Birmingham. Jonathan Davidson praises Yates’s poems as ‘a pleasure to encounter and to read’.
