Crochet 101: Foundations of Crochet

Join our small group introduction to crochet class this winter! Starting Tuesday, January 14 and continuing for 4-weeks, you'll be introduced to all the basics of crochetsing. Whether it is your first time picking up a hook or you want a refresher, we've got you covered with thorough directions and individualized attention. Over our four weeks together, you will learn the 10 most common crochet stitches and use them to create four personalized coasters. You will start each of your coasters in class and then take them home to practice. All materials including choose-your-own-color beginner yarn are provided so you just need to bring yourself! In class one, we will learn the basics of crochet: how to hold and use a hook, how to make a slip knot, how to chain stitch, and how to single crochet stitch. These skills are the foundations for scarves and blankets.In class two, we will expand upon the single crochet stitch pattern and learn how to color change, half double crochet stitch, double crochet stitch, and slip stitch. We will also start to read written patterns furthering your 2D crochet knowledge.In class three, we will learn how to crochet in the round which is the foundation for 3D amigurumi (stuffed toys). You will learn how to create a magic loop and the increase and decrease of stitches.In class four, we will learn how to make a simple granny square. You will learn how to construct corners and read a picture pattern. We will discuss where to find patterns for your next crochet project!

Again, this is a 4-week class and will be held on January 14,21,28 and February 4!from 6-7:30 pm each week. This class is for 14 years and over. Please look at our other workshops for younger makers, if interested.
