Please only register for this event if you are an East and/or South East Asian community member who also identifies as transgender.
As we approach the end of Pride month, we are summoning all transgender East and South East Asian folk! This FREE event is for you. Have you ever tried creative writing? Or maybe you’re a licensed pro? Regardless of your experience, this is the perfect opportunity to creatively process and express alongside your peers.
Creative Writing vs. The Hostile Environment: Written on the Bodies is a three-hour community creative writing workshop exploring black and brown queer migrant bodies as a site of border violence under the UK's hostile environment. The workshop combines community conversations, discussions, and writing exercises to empower participants on the many possibilities of creative writing to create a counter-language to the language of the hostile environment.
Limited number of spaces available - spaces will be allocated on a first come first serve basis!
This will be a safe space; no cisgender individuals will be present during the workshop.The venue is wheelchair accessible, and travel will be reimbursed. An assortment of free snacks, tea, coffee will be provided on the day (but please note we cannot accommodate for dietary requirements or allergies).
