Creative Writing and Nature Walk - Curious Crookes

Do you think you know Crookes? This popular Sheffield suburb is famous for being on top of a steep hill and being where Def Leppard played their first gig. But did you know that people have been living in Crookes since 3000 BC, that it once had a sacred well and that alpaccas live amongst the allotments?

We'll meet at Cloud Coffee at 10am, and experience the modern Crookes experience of artisan coffee and cake, setting our intentions and expectations for the walk, before escaping to fields, woodland and ramshackle allotments, searching for Crookes' Viking roots, lost settlements, and of course, stunning views.

There will be plenty of stops along the way, and we will be finishing our walk with a refreshing drink at the Old Grindstone, a former coaching inn dating back to 1828.

The walk is facilitated by Anne Grange, who first came to Sheffield in 1995. Living in Crookes and now Walkley, for decades, Anne is a fantastic guide to help you to find hidden wonders!

Please dress appropriately for the weather. Some paths are unevan and steep. Please bring a notebook or something to write on/with.

The famous 52 bus is your best way to get to Crookes, and there's also ample free street parking.
