Creative Intelligence for Leaders & Innovators | Matías Avaca
About this Event
Imagine playing chess while the board itself is moving faster than the pieces.
Some problems can be solved by following an established process. Others change while we are trying to solve them.
In these moments, we need to recognise what is emerging, adapt our perspective and make reliable decisions using the best information available.
You notice what is happening.
You look for patterns.
You challenge your first assumptions.
Then you use what’s available to make your next move.
That’s Creative Intelligence: not having the answer immediately, but being curious and flexible enough to discover an answer that others might miss.
Creative Intelligence for Leaders & Innovators has been adapted from Matías Avaca’s theatre workshop, The Engineering of the Scene. It explores how systems thinking can help us adapt and make the best possible choices in the workplace.
You’ll learn how to:
- Combine analytical thinking + creative exploration
- Reduce overthinking and move into action with more confidence
- Stay flexible when information is incomplete
- Communicate complex ideas with clarity
- Recognise patterns in conversations, systems, and group dynamics
- Use storytelling and metaphors to make ideas easier to understand
- Apply structure, intuition, and adaptability in work and life
The goal is not to abandon planning or structure. It is to use logical thinking as a foundation for greater curiosity, adaptability and better decision-making.

What students have said about this workshop...
“This was an excellent class. Matías was extremely well prepared, and the teaching structure was very clear. After the class, when you look back, you know exactly what the instructor wanted to teach. In this workshop, I experienced both the rigour of engineering and the freedom of jazz at the same time.”

“It was my first time taking a class with Matías, and wow, a teacher with an engineering background is absolutely amazing. This was the first time I’ve taken such a structured improv class. Every exercise was explained with total clarity, making sure everyone could understand.”
