About this Event
Enjoy a comfortable environment for kids and adults with a variety of sensory differences.
On Sensory-Friendly Days our new exhibitions and activity areas will be open extra early or late for a quieter experience and modified to suit people on the Autism spectrum and visitors with a range of differing abilities.
Our trained staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist with access and facilitate creative activities. Sensory Friendly sessions also include exclusive before or after hours access to a museum vessel (see program below for details).
Cost
- Adult/child: $12
- Children under 4 and members/companion card holders: Free
Sessions:
Early Access, 8.30am – 11.30am
Sunday 17 August
Sunday 28 September ( spring holidays)
Late Access, 3.30pm – 6.30pm
Friday 19 September
For our July-August-September sessions, we're offering access to the museum galleries including Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, Journey to the Ultimate Depth exhibition, a vessel* and our activity areas for Sensory-Friendly guests.
In September we will also include access to Ur Wayii- Incoming Tide exhibition, works by Brian Robinson. In school holidays, all activity areas that are part of the daily holiday program are open to Sensory Friendly guests.
Sensory Friendly Sessions also include optional access to an Underwater drones workshop (suitable for visitors 7+ years)
*Early/Late Vessel access will be either Destroyer HMAS Vampire OR tall ship Duyfken( pending vessel maintenance schedule)
