About This Event

Join us for a four day journey into creativity, connection and what it means to be human. Together, we'll explore identity, emotion, attention, embodiment and imagination, examining how creativity can help us navigate rapid change in culture, knowledge and technology.

As Australia's only event at the intersection of neuroscience and creative practice, Creative Brain Week Australia brings together expert knowledge, research and community perspectives to celebrate the dynamic interplay between brain science, creativity and human flourishing.

Across world-class venues spanning university, gallery and community settings, learn from neuroscientists, artists, academics, practitioners and community leaders while engaging with cutting-edge ideas about creativity, connection and the human experience. We foster genuine connection and create space to think innovatively about how creativity, knowledge and wellbeing emerge among us and for us.

Leave with expanded perspectives on the human experience and practical insights to inform your work across health, art and community settings.

Event Details

Exploring how our surroundings shape the brain.

In collaboration with the Gallery of Modern Art, we shift focus to Attune; exploring the interplay between place and perception, exploring how our physical and social environments influence the way we think, feel and relate to one another. Through the lenses of neuroscience and creativity, we examine how our surroundings are not simply a backdrop to life, but are an active participant in shaping experience.

Together, we explore the role of the senses, neuroarchitecture and environment in supporting attention, wellbeing and belonging. Extending from place to people, we consider how connection unfolds between individuals, illuminating the science of neural synchrony and the ways our brains align through shared experience.

Through a combination of talks, collaborative activities and immersive digital art from Queensland Brain Institute, we explore the role of art and environment in shaping cognitive and emotional responses and connection.
