Event Details

Day 1: KINDLE | Thursday 27th August | 9:30am - 12.30pm | UQ School of Public Health, Herston

Exploring social connection, curiosity and what it means to be human in the age of AI.

We begin Creative Brain Week Australia with Kindle; a celebration of the ideas, practices and relationships that spark curiosity, inspire inquiry and bring people together. Through the lenses of neuroscience and creativity, we'll explore how attention, connection and care shape the human experience in a world increasingly influenced by intelligent technologies.

Through a combination of short talks, facilitated activities and reflective discussion, we connect insights across neuroscience, creativity and lived experience, revealing how our social worlds shape individual and collective wellbeing.

Day 2: ATTUNE | Friday 28th August | 9:30am – 12:30pm | Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), South Brisbane

Exploring how our surroundings shape the brain.

In collaboration with the Gallery of Modern Art, we shift focus to Attune; exploring the interplay between place and perception, exploring how our physical and social environments influence the way we think, feel and relate to one another. Through the lenses of neuroscience and creativity, we examine how our surroundings are not simply a backdrop to life, but are an active participant in shaping experience.

Together, we explore the role of the senses, neuroarchitecture and environment in supporting attention, wellbeing and belonging. Extending from place to people, we consider how connection unfolds between individuals, illuminating the science of neural synchrony and the ways our brains align through shared experience.

Through a combination of talks, collaborative activities and immersive digital art from Queensland Brain Institute, we explore the role of art and environment in shaping cognitive and emotional responses and connection.

Day 3: THRIVE | Saturday 29th August | 10:00am – 1:30pm | Global Change Institute, St Lucia

Exploring creativity, movement and lifelong brain health.

This day explores Thrive; creativity as a universal human capacity and an essential foundation for learning, wellbeing and flourishing across the life course. Gathering at the University of Queensland's Global Change Institute, we consider how movement, play and hands-on creative practice support healthy brains at every age and stage of life.

Through talks, presentations and embodied experiences, we explore the role of curiosity, participation and creative practice in shaping how we learn, adapt and connect.

Bringing together researchers, practitioners and the broader community, this day offers opportunities to examine how creativity can strengthen individual and collective wellbeing across the lifespan.

Day 4: RISE | Sunday 30th August | 10:00am – 2:00pm | Creative Hearts Co., Brookwater

A fitting close to the four days, focused on resilience, recovery and community.

Our journey concludes with Rise at Creative Hearts Co., a Springfield-based hub for creativity and connection, with a day exploring the role of the arts in supporting resilience, recovery and community wellbeing. Engage with a hands-on exhibition alongside a program of talks and creative experiences that bring these ideas to life.

Through the lenses of neuroscience and creativity we examine how artistic practice can foster healing, strengthen connection and create opportunities for individuals and communities to thrive. Co-curated with community voices, the day highlights the knowledge, creativity and lived experience that contribute to recovery and wellbeing.

Explore the transformative potential of the arts, with space for people of all ages to engage, reflect and connect as we conclude the Creative Brain Week Australia 2026 and consider what's next in this space.
