About this Event

Presented by the SFU City Program and Please note that the correct event start time is 7:00 p.m. PCT which aligns with the time change taking effect on November 1.
After living in Vancouver for her entire adult life, Jessica Barrett packed up her apartment, quit her dream job as a magazine editor, and headed for Calgary in search of an affordable place to live.

Since leaving Vancouver, Jessica has travelled the world — visiting Vienna, Berlin and Harare, Zimbabwe — to better understand the global housing crisis and its solutions.

Her biggest take away? We cannot fix our housing crisis until we have a better understanding of home.

Join Jessica for an exploration of the themes in her new book “No Place Like Home: The Missing Key To Our Housing Crisis” and discover how intangible elements, like Belonging, Place and Purpose, are essential to creating not just more and better housing, but housing that feels like home.

Jessica will be joined by the Tyee’s Harrison Mooney, Hey Neighbour Collective’s Michelle Hoar and other guests for a lively discussion to follow.
