THE IMPACTS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON THE ENVIRONMENT AND WARFARE
a talk by M.V. Ramana

In his talk, The Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on the Environment and Warfare, Professor Ramana will explore the growing environmental footprint of artificial intelligence (AI), from the expansion of energy-intensive data centres to the increasing demand for water and minerals. He will also examine how AI contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, including through applications that facilitate the expansion of fossil fuel production.

Finally, the talk will address the use of AI in military operations, examining how AI-based tools are being used to accelerate attacks and the killing and maiming of people.

Join us for an insightful discussion of the environmental and human consequences of AI and the broader implications of these rapidly developing technologies.
