Create Your Own 20 × 20 cm Laser-Engraved Lino Print

Choose your own design, laser-engrave it onto a lino printing block, then ink and print a finished 20 × 20 cm piece of artwork to take home.
About this Event

Join Maidstone Hackspace for a hands-on workshop combining modern laser engraving with traditional lino printing.

You will choose or create an image, learn how to prepare it for engraving and use it to produce your own 20 × 20 cm lino printing block.

Once your block has been engraved, you will apply printing ink and create a series of prints, including a finished piece of artwork to take home.

You will also keep your engraved lino block, so you can make further prints after the workshop.

No previous experience of laser cutting, digital design or lino printing is required.

What is included

Your ticket includes:

• one 20 × 20 cm lino printing block;
• use of the laser cutter and workshop equipment;
• support preparing your artwork;
• printing ink and rollers;
• paper for test prints;
• material for your final print; and
• your finished artwork and engraved lino block to take home.

Choosing your design

During the workshop, we will show you how to find suitable graphics online and how to use AI image-generation tools to create something unique.

You will then learn how to prepare and adapt your chosen design for laser engraving onto the 20 × 20 cm lino block.

Bold black-and-white artwork, silhouettes, illustrations and line art generally produce the clearest results. Photographs are not recommended for this workshop.

Please only use artwork that you have permission to reproduce.

Maidstone Hackspace is a community workshop where people can learn, share skills and work together on creative, technical and practical projects.

Our activities include laser cutting, 3D printing, electronics, robotics, coding, crafts and digital making.

You do not need to be a Maidstone Hackspace member to attend this workshop.
