About your Instructors
Chef Gregory Nemchick is known as “Chef G” He is a high honors graduate of Westmoreland County Community College Culinary Arts program with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Culinary Arts. Chef G worked at Westmoreland Country Club and Troon Golf management as a chef de partie with his area of specialty in the banquet department. Chef G has also works these days as a private chef for several families in the Westmoreland County area. Chef Nemchick is currently a Continuing Education Instructor at Westmoreland County Community College as well as a member of the Culinary Arts team.
Chef G has been cooking since 5 years of age when he was taught by mother the wonders of home cooking from scratch. Gregory went on to have a remarkable career in sales, retiring as a CEO of an international corporation at the age of 61. After enjoying a few years of retirement, the Covid pandemic shut down the restaurant industry and the then Mr. Nemchick saw a future opportunity that would occur at the conclusion of the pandemic and jumped with both feet into baking and cooking every day for hours. The rediscovered cooking passion led him to the Culinary Arts Program at WCCC and at 65 years of age he enrolled in college, graduating two years later with a degree and a Certification from the American Culinary Federation. Chef Nemchick was recently inducted into the Chaine des Rostisseurs, a gastronomic society and worldwide organization founded in Paris in 1248 that is devoted to preserving the camaraderie and pleasures of the table.
Chef G’s presentations are hands-on, after a demonstration you will be cooking the recipe under his tutelage and his experience not only as a professional chef but also as a previous amateur home cook for over 50 years, this combination makes it easy for all levels of kitchen expertise (just starting to experienced cook) to leave with a new menu item, and the confidence that they can perform for family and friends.
Jill Kummer has been a culinary instructor for several years, teaching at both Westmoreland County Community college and Pittsburgh Technical College, specializing in beverage management/wines and spirits. After a successful career in food and beverage within the hotel industry, she made the decision to explore teaching opportunities within the hospitality industry. The study of beverages, specifically wine, has always been a passion and has shown throughout her career.
