Have you herd??? The cows are coming back! The pasture across hwy 17 from Hardman Farm is home to the gazebo topped mound and also to cattle about 10 months a year. The cattle are being raised as milking cows, and for this cycle to continue, for about 3 months in the winter, the field is vacant. In late Feb./ early March, a new herd arrives, and local residents take this as a sign of spring.Come by on Saturday, March 1st and celebrate the cows homecoming, Hardman Farm's full reopening for the season and the dairy history of Hardman Farm. Take a tour of the 100+ year old dairy barn, learn to make butter, see a cooking demo on our historic wood-fired stove, listen to live music, enjoy an open-house in the mansion, visit with local artists and crafters, take a hayride and grab a bite to eat from local food truck Mutt & Jeff's BBQ.
(Please note, as with everything in farming, the exact date of the cows arrival in the Valley is dependent on weather and a million other variables. We do not know the exact day and time they will arrive, (from year's past, they come back the last few days of February, first few days of March), but on March 1st we will celebrate that they are back (or will be returning very soon), Hardman’s return to full open hours and our dairy history. )
Admission is $8/person. Kids 5 and under are free. Bring your whole herd!
