YEE-HAW! The Cowichan Rodeo is back this year! Grab yer cowboy hats and play boats - it's time to dust off the fall paddling cobwebs and come out for a fun day of splashing around in the water.
Join us at Lake Cowichan on Saturday, October 5th. We'll kick off the day with a flat-water session at the lake, followed by a river run of the Cow Canyon and a fun low-water rodeo-ish event. We'll finish off the day at the take-out with an awards ceremony and weenie roast. Cost for the event is $15 if you register in advance here --> (http://VIWPS.rampregistrations.com/participant/CowichanRodeo), or $20 if you just show up and register at the lake.
***VIWPS needs members!*** Please sign up for this event so that we have enough registered member numbers for our AGM in November! Unfortunately due to weird calendar dates, Heber Fever this past year falls on last year's registration, so if you attended that event, you're not currently a member :(

• Practice your roll or learn techniques from our instructors on how to improve your roll or learn a new one!
• Flatwater playboating is a great way to stay in shape and get ready for play on the river! Practice your skills or learn techniques from our instructors on skills including lean-cleans, stern-stalls, bow-stalls, cartwheels, loops, and tailees.
1:30pm meet at Skutz Falls to set shuttle for takeout at Marie Canyon.
2:00pm Marie Canyon River Run and Rodeo
• Run the Marie Canyon and practice river running techniques or learn new techniques with our instructors.
• Depending on flows, the “River Rodeo” may take place on an eddyline, a wave, or a hole, to be determined day-of. The rodeo is open to ALL skill levels. Points will be awarded for any legit or attempted trick, and bonus points will be awarded for STOKE, silliness, costumes, musical instruments, and more.
5:00pm Weenie Roast and awards ceremony.
