Carpenter currently serves as the elected judge for Michigan's 75th District Court in Midland County, a position he reached after a career that has touched virtually every corner of the criminal justice system. Before taking the bench, he served as Midland County's Prosecuting Attorney for over a decade, winning three consecutive elections. Before that, he spent 10 years as a criminal defense attorney in private practice.
