Courtney Sawyer in conversation with Jessica Finstuen- A Quiet Place
About this Event
In a hectic neighborhood, a child finds a secret pond, filled with busy wildlife and solitude. Together, they share this quiet place and discover a calm that can be carried with them. Written in stanzas and beautifully illustrated, A Quiet Place is a story about the power of inner peace for people of all ages.
Courtney Sawyer was born in San Francisco, California, and moved to Bellingham, Washington, when she was a young child, where she still lives today. She is a retired elementary teacher and paraeducator and now spends her time bird watching, nature walking, cooking, and enjoying time with family and friends. Courtney adores children, animals, and nature, finding solace and rejuvenation in its breathtaking beauty.
Jessica Finstuen grew up in rural Montana, then moved to less rural Montana, and then to Wales, Oregon, California, and finally settled in Washington state. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Art from Montana State University in 1999. She has enjoyed creating her whole life. Teaching special education has been her focus for the last 17 years while raising two children with her husband, Peter. She enjoys hiking, long walks with her dog Winnie, gardening, cooking, and living in the Pacific Northwest.
