About this Event

For Refugee Week 2026, the Tower Hamlets Resettlement and Migration Team is coordinating an exhibition celebrating the artwork of people seeking sanctuary.

We’ll be featuring pieces by artists from over 20 different countries, in collaboration with 10 Tower Hamlets–based organisations working with refugees and migrants. We're proud to be joined by Hear Me Out, Crisis, Mile End Community Project, Praxis, Lifeseekers Aid, Anvil Arts, and 100 Years 100 Migrants.

When we are open

  • Wednesday 24th June, 5pm to 8pm

The Wednesday private view is open to all, but we are asking people to book through Eventbrite to manage attendee numbers. The private view will feature live poetry and performances, canapés, and creative activities suitable for the whole family, including Ukrainian doll-making, badge-making, and drawing.

  • Thursday 25th June, 9am to 8pm

The exhibition will be open to the public all day from 9am until 8pm, so that people who could not attend the private view have the opportunity to visit after work or school. Instead of live performances, short films will be shown on a loop, with seating available for visitors to watch. There will also be opportunities for drawing, reflection, and more.

  • Friday 26th June, 9am to 5pm

The exhibition will be open to the public from 9am to 5pm, with the same activities as Thursday.

About 100 Years 100 Migrants

The exhibition is being put on by Tower Hamlets Council as part of a wider series of events to celebrate Refugee Week, and the 100 Years 100 Migrants project are proud to represent a number of refugees as part of their project. At the same time, they recognise that not all of their participants fall under this category. Everybody has their individual reasons for migrating, be they economic, social or political. Their project aims to unite people by their very differences, by highlighting the stories of 100 individuals from 100 different countries and across 100 years of age.
