Celebrating courage, creativity and the stories that shape our borough
About this Event

The word courage comes from the Latin cor, meaning “heart.”

Inspired by the lives and experiences of people seeking sanctuary, Refugee Week 2026 invites us to explore the theme of Courage.

For refugees around the world, courage is often a daily necessity. It is the courage to face unknown journeys, learn new languages, navigate unfamiliar systems, or simply to wake up each morning and step into an uncertain world.

Join us at Tower Hamlets Town Hall for a vibrant celebration of courage, creativity and community. Local artists will bring the theme to life through painting, film, sculpture and performance.

We're proud to be joined by Hear Me Out, Crisis, Mile End Community Project, Praxis, Lifeseekers Aid and Anvil Arts.

This exhibition will open with a private view on Wednesday 24 June, and will be open to the public on:

Thursday 25 June 9:00am to 5:00pm

Friday 26th June 9:00 to 5:00pm

You do not need a ticket to join us on the Thursday and Friday.
