Couples Conscious Connected Breathwork - Half day Retreat
About this Event
“A breath of love can take you all the way to infinity.” — Rumi
Join Registered Clinical Counsellor Trini for a Conscious Connected Breathwork Journey designed for couples who want to learn how to love themselves and each other more deeply. This half-day retreat is perfect for couples who feel stuck in old dynamics or patterns of communication and want to find answers within to become unstuck, as well as couples who already have a strong connection and want to deepen their bond.
Through a continuous circular breathing practice, you'll be guided into an expanded state of awareness where you might experience greater emotional openness, insight, nervous system regulation, and a deeper connection with yourself, which might allow you to connect with your partner better.
This workshop welcomes couples of all genders, sexual orientations, and relationship identities. No prior experience is necessary—just bring a yoga mat, a journal, a pen, and an open mind.
How it works
During Conscious Connected Breathwork, we intentionally move beyond our ordinary waking state into an expanded state of awareness. Breathwork can help shift the brain from "thinking mode" (beta) toward "feeling and awareness mode" (alpha and theta), creating a state where the mind becomes quieter and inner experiences become more accessible. We cannot always find new solutions from the same state of consciousness that created the challenges. By shifting our state of awareness, we create space to access deeper intuition, insight, and our own inner healing intelligence.
While many people leave feeling lighter and more peaceful, the breathwork itself is not a mindfulness meditation designed simply to relax you. It is an active practice that can temporarily intensify emotions, bodily sensations, and inner experiences by bringing greater awareness to what is already present. Many people describe the experience as similar to psychedelics, or as entering a dreamlike, liminal state.
Throughout the journey, remember: You are always in control. You are free to slow your breath, pause, return to normal breathing, open your eyes, or ask for support at any time. I encourage you to honor your body and move at a pace that feels right for you.
How this is different from an individual breathwork session
In a guided couples session, both partners move through the breathwork experience together. There may be moments when the breath becomes more activating, followed by moments when it naturally softens and settles. Experiencing these shifts side by side can foster a sense of connection and co-regulation. Being present with each other in this way can deepen trust and intimacy.
Each person will be doing their own individual work, side by side, recognizing that the deeper we connect with and understand ourselves, the better we can connect with our partner. Each person can have an individual intention (e.g., "I want to understand my avoidance") and a shared intention as a couple (e.g., "I want to connect more deeply with my partner"), bringing another layer of meaning to the experience.
After the breathwork portion of the event, there will be time for dyad sharing. I will offer skills and tools to support safe and open communication, helping partners speak and listen to each other.
What You May Experience
Every breathwork journey is different. Although every experience is unique, it may help you:
- Release held emotions that may be affecting how you show up in the relationship
- Connect more deeply with yourself and your inner experience
- Create more space for vulnerability, trust, and openness
- Become more aware of your patterns, needs, and ways of relating
- Strengthen your ability to be present and attuned with your partner
- Bring more compassion, authenticity, and connection into the relationship
All experiences and emotional expressions are welcome. There is no "right" experience.
