Join us for a historical bicycle ride on the last Wednesday of every month through October, starting July 29th. We will ride bicycles around Council Bluffs, visiting historical locations like Lake Manawa State Park, The General Dodge House, Squirrel Cage Jail, Rails West Museum, or The Bregant Home, and enjoy local history with Dr. Richard Warner, the President of the Pottawattamie County Historical Society, if you haven't enjoyed history with Dr.Warner your in for a real treat!
All rides will start and return at the Railway Inn. On each ride, we may visit one or more historical sites in Council Bluffs and stop at each location where Dr. Warner will lead us on a historical journey through time. The rides will be mostly flat, but don't rule out an occasional hill. Mileage may vary depending on historical locations.
I estimate the rides will be between 8 and 12 miles at a casual pace. The ride will depart at 6 p.m. and could return as late as 8:30 p.m. Please bring your own snacks, beverages, helmets, lights, and anything else you need to get you through the evening. Routes, locations and details will be announced in the comment section of this event page and may be updated at any time.
Membership and or donations to The Pottawattamie County Historical Society are welcome and some sites may or may not require a small admission fee.
RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK. All children must be accompanied by an adult. You are responsible for your own health, safety, and personal items. This bicycle ride is voluntary, and you assume all liability.
