The 2026 Rooster Tail Ride is a tribute to Brian Seago and a celebration of many of the things that he loved - bikes, music, friends, and fun. In his memory, we ask that you invite your friends, make new ones along the way, and enjoy the ride. Started by the Wabash Trace in 2017, the Rooster Tail Ride is a mobile music festival made possible with the support of towns and businesses along the way. This ride is 35 miles each way, beginning in Mineola on Saturday morning (or Friday night, if you care to join in the pre-party & camping!) with live music stops in Silver City, at the Silver Creek Bridge, Malvern, Strahan, Imogene, and then reaching Shenandoah for the grand finale and overnight. Sunday you get up & do it all in reverse (Sunday music in Malvern and Silver City only)!
Named after the iconic 'rooster tail' you may find on your backside after an extended ride on our trail's crushed limestone surface, this 2-day ride from Mineola to Shenandoah will have musical stops in Silver City, on the Silver Creek Bridge, Malvern, Strahan and Imogene on Saturday, with the headliner celebration at the Depot Deli in Shenandoah Saturday evening.
Camping & showers will be available in Shenandoah (or book a room at Shenandoah Inn & Suites downtown), gear transport (have your stuff there by 11 on Saturday, 10 to go back on Sunday!), and music in all towns is included with your registration fee! The party rolls back from Shenandoah to Mineola on Sunday, with a lighter music schedule on Sunday! Don't miss the pre-party in Mineola on Friday Night - primitive camping available at the Mineola campground for those early birds!
Registration is encouraged in advance online, or available day-of! This is a fundraiser for maintenance of the beautiful Wabash Trace Nature Trail, organized by the SWINT (Southwest Iowa Nature Trails) Board, and supported by the local businesses along the way. So please - register, ride, patronize the establishments, and have fun! We will make band announcements sometime this spring.
