About this Event
Much like novels and other non-fiction books, cookbooks hold a very special place in the hearts of readers. For many, cookbooks are the first step in learning how to cook for yourself and loved ones. Cookbooks hold your hand as you work your way through a mid-week dinner or slow cooked Sunday lunches. They hold the recipes that are reserved and prepared for special occasions, for when you need to switch off or feel happy or sad. The recipes in cookbooks literally nourish you inside and out. As they equally nourish your body and mind, the nourishment extends to those those around you, bringing together people around a table, away from busy lives and devices into a world of flavour, conversation and connection.
Our November cookbook pick is The Farm Table by Instagram’s most famous farmer, Julius Roberts. With over a million followers, Roberts kept us entertained during the pandemic with his beautiful recipe reels and stories from his new life as a farmer. Leaving London in the early days of lockdown, he became a first-generation farmer on his family’s smallholding in Dorset, combining his background as a restaurant-trained chef with a mission for self-sufficiency.
In The Farm Table, Roberts takes us through the seasons, showing how cooking seasonally can be both fun and delicious. This book is a love letter to the English countryside and the slower pace of rural life, filled with simple, hearty recipes—just what we love.
As per usual we will be cooking you three courses of dishes from the book so join us and new friends for a gorgeous sit down supper and conversation. We will chat about all the reasons why we love the book with new friends and fellow cook book lovers!
