About this Event

This Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Lecture Series brings together leading architectural practices from Ireland and abroad for an engaging programme of public conversations.

Across the series, speakers will explore contemporary architectural practice, design thinking, and the ideas behind award-winning projects, offering insight into the challenges and opportunities shaping the built environment today.

All lectures take place at 6pm in the Joly Theatre at the National Library of Ireland, 7–8 Kildare Street, Dublin 2 (D02 P638).

Join Noel McCauley of Duncan McCauley on Thursday, 30 April at 6pm.

Noel McCauley is an Irish-born architect, museum specialist, and co-founder of the Berlin-based studio . The studio specializes in integrated architecture, exhibition design, and immersive media to craft narrative environments that foster engagement with cultural heritage.

Formative experience on landmark projects—such as the Jewish Museum Berlin with Studio Daniel Libeskind—informed his understanding of architecture as a storytelling medium and shaped his approach to scenographic space.

The work of Duncan McCauley for major cultural institutions and UNESCO World Heritage Sites—including the Historical Royal Palaces in London, the Deutsches Museum in Munich, and the Völklingen Ironworks—has garnered international recognition and received multiple awards. A recurring theme in their work is the role that cultural heritage plays in shaping identity and self-understanding within communities.

Throughout his career, Noel McCauley has complemented studio practice with collaboration with academic institutions such as the University of the Arts (UdK) and the Technical University (TU), Berlin, and Central Saint Martins (UAL), London. These partnerships provide a framework for reflecting on practice-based work and facilitate knowledge transfer to the next generation of creatives. He regularly contributes to the international discourse on museum practice through participation in conferences on museology and interpretive design.
