This mini ball (Kikín) celebrates radical love and the flames that usher a New World! Dress Code: K*ll them with Kindness!About this Event
The Haus of Schiaparelli presents our sophmore Kikín (a mini kiki ball) - something small to kick off the year!
Bealtaine is not just a celebration of our distant pagan past. It is a proclamation of TODAY and a bold statement for the FUTURE!
Let's celebrate the return of the sun and lay the path for resistance in these uncertain times...
This is PUNK!
This is IRISH!
This is BALLROOM!
NO PROFESSIONAL CAMERAS!!
CATEGORIES!!
Bealtaine Flame - Sex Siren (OTA)
Sex siren is a traditional Ballroom category that celebrates the revolutionaries of the scene who paved the way for many of the rights we have today: sex workers.
Bealtaine was born out of the same desire to champion the revolutionary power of expression. It’s about to get HOT!
- The challenge – The walk should be slow, deliberate, and intensely seductive. Engaging the audience with seductive eye contact and playful gestures is key.
In Ballroom tradition, this category will NOT be recorded.
///
Vogue Fem - OTA
- The challenge is simple, perform the five elements and honour the Femme Queens who pioneered Ballroom
///
Your Way - OTA
- This category explores the sixth element of C.U.N.T - Take what you know and make it your own
- Not a ‘real’ category, but there’s nothing realer or more revolutionary than YOU
///
Queen Richard’s Runway - OTA
- It’s a very special person’s birthday this season, so to celebrate we are doing it Mother’s Way for Mother’s Big Day!
- In Ballroom, runway categories focus on high fashion, confidence, and walking style. The Runway category is not about just walking like a model, but owning the floor by showcasing technique, attitude and paying attention to fashion details of the runway theme.
- The look: TBC
- The vibe: TBC
- NOTE: To honour our Drag Queen, this runway is strictly European style
///
Dandy Parade (Executive)- Gender Non-Conforming (GNC)
Judges will examine:
- Tailoring
- Bold accessories - canes, pocket watches, broaches, gloves etc
- Androgyny - A mix of masculine and feminine elements
- Individuality - a personal sense of style that is curated, not mass produced, and eccentric
- The vibe - Whether it’s the swagger of the sapeurs, or the trailblazing aura of Dapper Dan, just remember what our very own Oscar Wilde said: ‘Be yourself, everyone else is already taken’
P.S. Being Dandy is not about spraying money; some of the best-dressed individuals are those who fearlessly embrace their unique identities, combining thrifted finds and DIY creations…however every stitch will be examined.

TERMS:
- OTA: Open to all gender identities and expressions
- GNC: Gender Non Conforming
TICKET POLICY!!! SOMETHING NEW*
In recognition of the fact there are other vulnerable groups that have historically made up the Ballroom community, we are introducing a SPECIAL TIER for people of the following groups:
- Students
- People of transfeminine experience (trans women, the dolls etc.)
- Queer People of Colour (QPOC)
- People in Direct Provision
This tier will remain at a discounted price, however once the tier is SOLD OUT it is SOLD OUT and everyone (whether ally or QPOC) will need to purchase tickets in the regular tiers.
WALK INS ARE STILL STRICTLY QPOC!
Tiered Pricing
We have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for anyone to be found in contravention of our ticket policy. You will be escorted out of the building and you will not avail of a refund. Don’t worry though. Your money is going to a good cause 💋 If you're confused on terms, scroll down!
Why tiered pricing?
In a world where QPOC/The dolls/Migrants are discriminated against on all sides, even in queer spaces which are reported to profile members of our Dublin QPOC community, tiered pricing is a small price to pay to make a stand of solidarity! In this spirit, if you know anybody who is in contravention of the safe space we are trying to curate, please let a Haus member know 💋
If you're thinking this isn't fair, think of just how many support groups there are for other communities of interest (e.g. women.specific spaces) currently. Just because you're not used to seeing Black people taking up space doesnt mean we can’t or shouldn't. We're here. We're queer. Get used to it. Non-qpoc are guests to Ballroom: PERIOD💅🏾
A little help on terms:
- QPOC - refers to members of the LGBTQ+ community who are people of colour
- Allies - anyone who is not QPOC
Transparency
Money from ticket sales will go directly to House members and people closely involved in bringing this kikín to life/ our chosen fundraising campaign. However, the sum will be deducted from any outstanding costs of organising this ball. We are a small, grassroots community currently working voluntarily and unsponsered.
Please note the ticket policy as we do not have the administrative capacity to issue refunds and we have a zero tolerance policy towards people found to be in possession of tickets in the wrong tier!!
We do not have the capacity to administer refunds to anyone of any tier. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We suggest organising a resale to another person of the appropriate tier.
Want to pay it forward to someone who may not be able to otherwise afford it? Contact us on IG @hausofschiaparelli or email us [email protected] and we can arrange that for you! Please note, we cannot guarantee that there will be actual uptake of the ticket, but we will share the information with our networks and on our social media to amplify your support (private or otherwise). Again, your ticket is going to a good cause either way!
