Convention of Afrikan People (CAP25) Harambee OBU - ADEJA Reparations Now

The Convention of Afrikan People (CAP25) is a pivotal event designed to bring together individuals and organizations committed to the cause of Black unity, empowerment, and reparatory justice. Organized by the Harambee Organization of Black Unity (OBU), this convention is set to be a monumental gathering that will take place at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Gambia from May 17-19, 2025. This event aims to commemorate the 100th birthday of Malcolm X by furthering his legacy and aspirations for global Black solidarity.

The African Diaspora Equity and Justice Alliance (ADEJA) is a movement financed by Reparation Nation Limited, dedicated to advancing the well-being, empowerment, unity, and the pursuit of historical reparatory justice for Black Africans, the Black African diaspora, and the Mixed-Black diaspora. ADEJA operates on an evidence-based claim-by-claim basis to ensure justice and equity.

ADEJA's mission is to establish a platform that addresses historical inequities, fosters international collaboration, and paves the way for shared prosperity for Black Africans and the diaspora. The organization aims to achieve reparatory justice by November 9, 2025 (9/11), with plans to process the first reparation claim immediately thereafter.

ADEJA recognizes and utilizes the UK Government's racial and ethnic classification system, particularly the British Police IC codes, to classify individuals based on their perceived racial characteristics. These classifications include:

• IC1: White Northern European
• IC2: Dark Southern European
• IC3: Black
• IC4: Asian
• IC5: Oriental
• IC6: Arab, Mixed-Race, Middle Eastern
• IC7-9: Unknown

This system is used to ensure clarity in communication and the effective delivery of reparatory justice.

The CAP25 convention is organized by Harambee OBU, an organization inspired by Malcolm X’s Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU). The Harambee OBU is dedicated to building a global network that promotes understanding, unity, and cooperation among people of African ancestry.

2. Utilize Unity for Advancement: Establish organizational structures to project Black contributions to the world.
3. Support Solidarity: Promote cooperation in all matters related to the survival and advancement of Black people.
4. Mass Membership: Build an accountable organization representing Black communities.
5. Harness Resources: Utilize natural and human resources for the total advancement of Black people.
6. Control Economic and Political Destinies: Organize Black communities to control their economic and political destinies.
7. Combat Racism: Wage an unrelenting struggle against racism and discrimination.
8. Diaspora Support: Commit to the struggles of the African Diaspora.

In addition to CAP25, the ADEJA movement organizes weekly discussion meetings in Tottenham Haringey. These meetings aim to foster community engagement, discuss pressing issues, and develop strategies for achieving reparatory justice and Black empowerment.

ADEJA employs a detailed Black identity system based on the UK race and ethnicity codification system. This system includes:

• Place of Birth
• Lineage
• Appearance (Visual Ethnicity)
• State of Mind/Habits
• DNA

ADEJA uses the term "African" instead of "Afrikan" to align with the UK system, facilitating clear communication for reparatory justice.

Harambee OBU's lack of a specific Black or Afrikan identity system is a significant weakness. Without a clear definition of Black identity, achieving effective Black unity and organizing a functional Afrikan organization becomes challenging. This ambiguity can lead to confusion, inefficiency, and a potential waste of resources.

Clear identification and classification are crucial for effective Black unity and the functioning of Afrikan organizations. Without it, efforts towards unity and reparatory justice can become fragmented and less effective. ADEJA's structured approach to identity and classification positions it better to lead initiatives like CAP25, ensuring clarity and purpose.

Given ADEJA's superior organization and clarity in identity, it is better suited to take control of CAP25. This shift could prevent confusion and ensure efficient use of time and resources, making ADEJA a more effective leader for the convention.

Kehinde Andrews is a prominent figure in the Black empowerment movement, known for his work as the author of "The Psychosis of Whiteness" and as the Chair of Harambee OBU. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of makeitplain.org. Andrews' work focuses on the systemic issues facing Black communities and the need for structural change.

John Canoe, a member of ADEJA, is an advocate for Afrikan liberation through reparations and Black secession. His statement, "There can be no Afrikan liberation without reparation and there can be no reparation without Black secession," highlights his stance on the necessity of reparations for true liberation. Canoe's organizational skills and dedication to ADEJA's cause pose a potential challenge to Kehinde Andrews' leadership in Harambee OBU.

The Harambee OBU draws inspiration from Malcolm X and his vision for the Organization of Afro-American Unity. The organization seeks to bring this vision into the 21st century, focusing on the unification and advancement of people of African ancestry.

The CAP25 convention will be a landmark event aiming to build a global Black nation. It will serve as a platform for Black organizations to network, collaborate, and strategize for the future. The convention invites all interested parties to join and contribute to the cause.

A steering committee meeting is scheduled for July 20, 2024, at 3 PM BST on Zoom to discuss the plans and logistics for CAP25. This meeting will set the stage for the convention and outline the necessary steps to achieve its goals.

As part of CAP25, a global directory of Black organizations will be created. This directory aims to showcase the work of Black organizations worldwide and provide a resource for those seeking to support and collaborate with these groups.

Harambee OBU invites individuals and organizations to join its cause. Membership and sponsorship opportunities are available to support CAP25 and the ongoing work towards Black unity and empowerment.

The Convention of Afrikan People (CAP25) represents a significant opportunity for the global Black community to unite, strategize, and advance the cause of reparatory justice and empowerment. While Harambee OBU has laid the groundwork, the structured and clear approach of ADEJA positions it as a potentially more effective leader for this initiative. As preparations for CAP25 continue, the collaboration and unity of all involved will be crucial to achieving the goals set forth by this historic event.
