7:30pm-10:00pm Dance
English Country Dance is like the dancing you see in Jane Austen movies.
Contra dance is a rowdy cousin of English Country Dance that developed in New England.
Rare Privilege features Maria Terres on fiddle and Amy McFarland on piano. Their music has often been described as "way more sound than we ever thought two people could make." Devotion to their individual instruments, a sense of innovation, and a deep love and respect for the living tradition of folk music and dance combine to give their music an imaginative and lyrical energy and drive. Based in Wisconsin, they have performed throughout the US, as well as in Canada, Ireland, and Australia.
All dances are taught; no partner or experience needed.
If you are new to contra & English dancing, we recommend attending the beginner lesson. Dances tend to start simple and increase in complexity as the evening progresses.
Please do not attend if you are ill or have symptoms of an infectious illness, including respiratory illness. We encourage all to keep up-to-date on vaccinations.
Send us a message if you're interested in getting involved, or have general questions, concerns, or feedback about our dances.
