Contemporary African Art Exhitibition
About this Event
Contemporary African Art Exhibition
Chudear Oyual is a contemporary African mixed media artist whose work explores identity, cultural heritage, and representation through portraiture. Combining oil and acrylic painting with fabric, beadwork, and textured materials, she creates layered compositions that draw upon the visual traditions of East Africa while engaging contemporary perspectives on culture and belonging.
Central to Oyual's practice is the use of light and shadow to highlight the beauty and individuality of East African features. Her portraits emerge from richly textured surfaces, where textiles and beadwork serve as both material and metaphor, carrying histories of craftsmanship, memory, and cultural expression.
Through her distinctive fusion of painting and mixed media, Oyual creates works that celebrate resilience, ancestry, and self-definition. This exhibition presents a collection of portraits that invite viewers to reflect on the enduring relationship between identity, heritage, and contemporary African experience.
