This October is Government Canyon's 20th Anniversary month, and we've invited all our friends to celebrate!
Stop by Lot B and the Visitor Center any time during the event to check out activities and information from the Edwards Aquifer Authority, City of San Antonio Natural Areas, San Antonio Zoo, TPWD Game Wardens (Operation Game Thief trailer), Zara Environmental, TX Speleological Society, the Hill Country Alliance, the Friends of Government Canyon, and other partners. TPWD Accessibility team members will be on-site to share some of our adaptive devices and the new Sensory Tent. There will be something interesting for everyone!
Who Is Invited:
All ages are welcome. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or guardian.
Where to Meet:
This activity will be in Lot B and at the Visitor Center. The parking lot and path to the Visitor Center are paved and near an accessible restroom.
How to Prepare:
Registration is not required for this event. However, in honor of our anniversary we are waiving Day Use fees today! We expect to fill to capacity, and once we're full no one can enter the SNA until space becomes available. A Texas State Parks Pass or Parklands Passport (military, disabled, or senior pass) will NOT provide entry once we fill to capacity.
To ensure entrance and save time at the Fee Booth, please reserve and print out a day pass. Day passes may be reserved up to one month in advance.
Dress for walking outdoors, in layers that can be added or removed as the weather changes. Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, bug spray and a hat are recommended.
