An evening of stories, art, music, food and conversation at The Polygon Gallery, celebrating caring as love in action.
About this Event

Please join us for an evening of storytelling, art, music, food and conversation as we celebrate caring as love in action and launch the new book Courage to Care: Ripples of Love in Action.

Curated by Al Etmanski, Courage to Care brings together 160 fiercely personal reflections, poems, paintings, photographs, graphic illustrations, song lyrics and recipes about receiving and giving care. Together, they reveal caring in all its complexity—the hard truths, the sticky love and the unexpected moments of grace.

Al will be joined by contributors from across British Columbia for an evening of music, readings, art and personal connection. Contributors will share some of the experiences and ideas behind their work, bringing the pages of Courage to Care to life.

Every day, people throughout Metro Vancouver and British Columbia are caring with one another—for family, friends, neighbours and strangers. Much of this caring goes unseen, yet it is an indispensable part of what brings us together.

Your caring counts. Our caring counts.

Everyone has, is, or will give and receive care. Everyone is welcome.

With heartfelt thanks to the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence, YVR, Co-operators and our other generous funding partners for helping bring this gathering to life.
