About this Event
This practical workshop, run by the Business Skills Hub, is designed to help you feel more confident managing your bookkeeping as a self employed person.
In this session you will discover a clear, simple way to stay on top of things.
We’ll break down what bookkeeping actually is and why it matters, then guide you through how to record income and expenses clearly using Excel.
We’ll cover what records HMRC expects, how long to keep them, and when a simple Excel system is enough or when it might be time to move to software.
We will also cover how to reconcile your records with your bank statements so everything adds up.
Alongside this, we’ll introduce tools like Xero and QuickBooks, giving you a simple, non-technical overview so you can understand your options as your business grows.
The session is led by Gemma Pearce from the Business Skills Hub, who has over 13 years’ experience running an accountancy and bookkeeping business.
