Concert Series: Shakespearean Tunes and Tales performed by Ladies Out Loud
About this Event
Ladies Out Loud is a trio founded by Marie Herrington, Leah Wenger, and Elisheva Pront, designed as an ensemble by sopranos for sopranos. When we started this ensemble, we aimed to tackle the problem of "too many sopranos" in the vocal music industry by making an ensemble that would sing duets, trios, quartets, quintets, etc. and give many more sopranos the opportunity to perform. We all happen to perform music by living/contemporary composers, sing in bands, and sing in early music ensembles as well as classical ensembles. By forming a trio, we were able to create this dynamic and diverse ensemble that would not be limited to one genre, but would show what the soprano voice is really capable of as we three constantly switch between who is singing which voice part.
Ladies Out Loud aims to relax the tense shoulder muscles of classical ensembles by being an engaging yet relaxing group that performs in relaxed venues such as libraries, coffee shops, and maybe one day in your neighborhood as well! We love to laugh with our audience members, sing fun music like 15th century Catches (rounds) meant to be sung in ancient bars and saloons, and overall we create an environment where all music lovers are welcome - not just the classical ones. We are ladies out LOUD because our voices are un-amplified by anything other than the natural resonance of the spaces we sing in, and we hope to remind everyone, especially other ladies to not be afraid to live out loud!
