An opportunity to toast good health to this traditional Devon orchard to help bring another successful harvest. Led by local choir, Riversong, this informal community wassail will take place in the orchard on the Parke Estate on the edge of Bovey Tracey.Wassail (from the Old Norse ves heill) is a traditional gathering still popular in the west country as a way of wishing "good health" to the orchard and to bring hope of a good harvest to come. We will join Riversong in singing to the different trees, followed by clattering and banging 'to ward off evil spirits'! Bring your own pots and wooden spoons for participating in the noise making.
