About this Event
Improve your workplace communities safety! It takes a village as the saying goes…
This 90 min lunch and learn workshop is interactive and informative. It takes a view on best practice based on real experiences and lessons learned from consulting, coaching and training in the field of bullying and harassment at work for over 20 years
This small group workshop will look at what options are available to individuals, line managers, senior management, HR, union reps, whistleblowers and groups to deal with bullies, abusers and missing stairs* - as well as those who enable or condone such behaviour
Overview of key issues, including real examples:
- Bullies and abusers
- Missing stairs
- Enablers
What options are available, including lessons learned, for:
- Individuals who are or have experienced any type of abuse
- HR and management
- A realistic look at personal risk and cost of speaking out and taking action
Intention for the training
To provide a deep dive on the ways people within workplaces can and have dealt with bullies, abusers and missing stairs. With the aim of improving and promoting workplace community safety, we assess actions and options available and learn lessons from experiences, both good and bad. This training will not name and shame, any examples that are shared are anonymous and for learning from real experiences
Many people who go through abusive experiences within the workplace feel alone in dealing with it - if we have strong communities in our workplaces we can face this together and create a better culture and future for all of us
Ethos of the training
Understanding, accountability, responsibility
Who the training is for
Of specific interest to people in workplace that have experienced abuse of any kind and those responsible for or wanting ways to improve safety within their workplace. This training is relevant for any member of a workplace community, everyone can be impacted, even if they’re not the person targeted by the behaviour. This is relevant for leaders, HR and others involved in managing or responsible for staff, safety and the culture of the organisation.

This workshop will be recorded if you can't make it live
A Message from your facilitator Jo Brown
I support people with work and career issues, as well as organisations in the prevention, intervention and resolution of workplace bullying. For individuals, I facilitate you to get to the root cause of issues to release stuck and unprocessed emotions, and to turn around any limiting beliefs that sabotage performance, mindset and success.
I work with all parties in a bullying situation and you'd be surprised at the commonality of the root causes, whether target or someone with bullying behaviour. Being mentally fit at work positively impacts all areas of your life! You CAN turn around any belief or problem into something more positive and empowering!
We spend so much of our lives at work, why do we still allow and enable negative behaviours at work?! It is relatively simple to fix if the will is there - abusive behaviour just need 2 things to thrive. Is it time to put a stop to them? Everyone can and should thrive at work to create a positive impact for themselves, their families and their workplace communities.
Feel free to reach out if you'd like to discuss working with me privately
*A missing stair is someone within our circle who we consider to be difficult, aggressive or a problem, without them or their behaviour being dealt with directly or openly. Instead, the chosen way to manage the situation is by people in the community quietly warning others to their concerns. It happens for several reasons and these will be discussed in the training
