WORKSHOP 2: COMMUNITY RESOURCES IN MEDICAL AND PHYSICAL WELLNESS (Finding Care, Overcoming Barriers, and Preparing a Practical Wellness Plan)
This interactive workshop will help participants navigate medical and physical wellness resources in practical, plain language for everyday individuals and families. Participants will learn how to identify their most immediate wellness needs, understand where to begin when seeking help, advocate for appropriate support, and connect with trusted resources available throughout Durham and North Carolina.
Our facilitator will guide participants through questions such as:
- How do I identify which health or wellness need I should address first?
- When should I start with primary care, urgent care, emergency care, public health, rehabilitation, or a community-based program?
- Where can I turn if cost or lack of insurance is keeping me from getting care?
- What community resources are available for physical health, movement, nutrition, mental wellness, medications, and other everyday health needs?
- What questions should I ask when I don't understand my diagnosis, treatment, medications, or next steps?
- How can I better advocate for myself or a family member when navigating healthcare?
- What is one realistic step I can take in the next 30 days to improve my health or better connect with the care and resources I need?
Participants will begin building their own G.R.A.C.E. Binder, a practical family preparedness resource that can grow throughout the workshop series. During this session, participants will work on their Medical & Physical Wellness Planning section using worksheets, checklists, and planning tools.
Space is limited, and advance registration is strongly encouraged.
