Calling All Eco‑Volunteers! Volunteers are needed to help restore a natural bioretention pond by removing invasive plants and planting natives during this event.Ready to roll up your sleeves, get a little dirty, and make a real splash in your community? Join Phase 1 of the Land O’ Lakes Bioretention Pond Restoration—a hands‑on, family‑friendly project hosted by UF IFAS Extension Pasco County, Florida Sea Grant, and Pasco County Public Works.
Starting at 8 am on May 3rd, we’ll tackle invasive weeds that choke our pond and plant native Florida species that will bring back wildlife, keep stormwater clean, and cut nutrient pollution. By the time we’re done, you’ll have helped restore a natural habitat and learned how the same project can be done in your community!!!
Why volunteer?
Make a measurable impact on water quality and local biodiversity.
Learn the tools of pond restoration—from planting techniques to native plant knowledge.
Enjoy free lunch and drinks on us while you’re at it!
Bring your friends, family, and kids (youth volunteers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).
What to bring:
Sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, closed‑toed shoes that can get wet, and optional waders or an extra shovel (we’ll supply plenty). Don’t fuss over clothes—think comfy, mud‑friendly attire.
Ready to dive in?
