Join us for a heart-to-heart about Modern Parenthood

Curious about what parenthood is like in today’s world and how it might affect different aspects of your life? This panel event is a safe space for discussion about one of life’s most significant decisions: parenthood and the realities of raising children in today’s world, including its impact on personal identity and relationships.

Meet our speakers, each offering unique insights and experiences:

• Dawn Hong: A financial planner who spent 11 years certain she didn't want children and enjoying the DINK life before experiencing a significant shift in perspective, eventually welcoming her daughter through IVF at age 40. She will speak candidly about her evolving perspective on parenthood, the realities of fertility treatment, and how emotional readiness alongside relationship growth influences family planning.
• Dr Xander Ong: As the CEO of the Centre for Fathering, Xander brings both research-based insight and personal experience to his advocacy work. On this panel, he will share how involved fathers, intentional preparation, and communication can shape the parenting experience. He welcomed a son in 2023, and is convicted about the importance of the active, engaged role of the husband and father in families. He believes that parenthood is a joint responsibility and that children thrive best with the presence and involvement of both parents, which helps them grow into confident, well-rounded individuals.
• Jessica Bin: Jessica Bin is a full-time working mother of three young children, and volunteers at a charity that focuses on helping families thrive. Through her parenting journey that started at 24, she has come to deeply believe that work-life integration looks different in every season of life. What matters most is embracing each season fully and making the most of it. She will share her reflections on the intentional choices she has made in career and parenting. Jessica strives to give her best in all areas of life (work, marriage, parenting, and community), and is thankful for the challenges and joys of parenthood.

• Concerns about preserving personal identity beyond the parent role
• What parenthood is really like
• What it means to be a "good" mom or dad
• What it means to be "ready" to have kids, can anyone truly be "ready"?
• What's important to think about and have sorted before having kids
• How parenthood affects relationship dynamics and social circles
• Building support systems and community for one's parenting journey

This event is for you if

• You’re exploring becoming a parent in future
• You want to understand different parenting pathways
• You're seeking unfiltered perspectives on modern parenting realities
• You're curious about what parenthood is like
• You wanna learn how to grow into parenthood

Note: Partners or spouses do not need to attend together. This session focuses on individual growth and learning. Singles are welcome to attend too :)

Join our supportive community for an evening of meaningful connections and insights. This event precedes our late March session on career development and parenthood.
