DesignTinkers 4-day Camp (Apr)

A 4-day Holiday Camp designed for children to explore various make and build projects; to test ideas through hands-on exploration, training dexterity, creative and critical thinking while learning new skills.

On Day 1 and 2, students will be designing and building their ideal playground + communal space, exploring what makes a playground space fun and memorable. Working in groups, students are encouraged to be creative in their findings as they apply Design Thinking principles in understanding the needs and challenges of who they are designing for.

On Day 3 and 4, students will be introduced to curated designs around the world to inspire and design an ice cream truck, the branding, logo and its exciting Ice Cream Menu!
Students with begin sketching of ideas and apply Design Thinking skills to understand the spatial needs required to support the ice cream production and sales before prototyping their design in 3D.

Planning and 3D Prototyping
Upon completion of their Ice Cream Truck prototype, students will be introduced to the digital craft of Graphic Design with Canva. Students will learn how Graphic Designers create visual content to communicate messages by applying visual hierarchy and page layout techniques, also understanding typography to design their Ice Cream Brand Logo and a Poster to advertise the grand opening of their Ice Cream Truck business.

Laptops will be provided to students on 4 April to design digitally in Canva. However, we do encourage students to bring their own device, laptop or IPad to continue working on their project at home.

Do email [email protected] to let us know if you will be bringing your own device, a week before the holiday camp starts.

A specially prepared thumb drive will be gifted to each student to save all their digital work completed at the holiday camp.
