This course is the first step in rebuilding a strong, community‑focused CERT program that empowers residents with the knowledge and skills to help themselves, their families, and their neighbors during emergencies and disasters.

This hands‑on, introductory course is taught by trained CERT instructors and covers essential skills including disaster preparedness, fire safety, basic first aid, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, and more. Lessons are presented in a clear, accessible, and practical format designed for people of all backgrounds, experience levels, and abilities.
Upon completion of this training, graduates are welcome to join the Shoreline CERT Team and participate in ongoing training, community engagement, and support activities throughout the year. Whether you’re looking to build personal preparedness, contribute to community resilience, or take a more active role in local emergency response, there is a place for you in CERT.
The CERT program is open to adults of all ages. Teens between 13–17 may participate with written permission from a parent or guardian; youth 11–12 may participate with written permission and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all trainings and events.
