COMMUNITY CONSULTATION: Reimagining Kreft Maker Space at Newquay Orchard

KREFT Maker Space, based at Newquay Orchard, is well stocked with digital and manual tools but use of these tools - particularly the digital - has diminished as people with the necessary skillsets to use them have moved away from the community that built it.

Now, Social Designs, ReCollective and Newquay Orchard, are working together to bring the space back to life; to establish new purpose for a community-led maker space to have an impact on site at the Orchard and elsewhere in Cornwall.

This event is a drop-in community consultation, at which anyone motivated to attend; be that educators, makers or members of the public looking to use the tools or develop new skills, can visit the maker space at any time between 10.30am and 2.30pm to discuss with Social Designs and ReCollective, how the maker space and tooling is best used and what a related management programme thereof, might look like.

This session is part of a wider design and build process that will culminate in the partial deconstruction of buildings connected to the maker space and the reconstruction of those areas, with an extension, using construction materials salvaged through deconstruction.
