Many of us feel it — a quiet, persistent sense of disconnection. We live in an age of more communication than ever, and yet genuine connection — the kind where we feel truly seen and heard — has never felt harder to find. We are divided in our communities, distracted by our screens, and often lonely even among the people we love most. What if the path back to one another were simpler than we think — and already within our reach? On Sunday, April 19, Calvary Episcopal Church will present a Common Ground Lecture, entitled Love Your Neighbor As Yourself – It Starts With Listening…featuring Amber Sastry, founder of A Storied Life, a 501c3 organization which explores “storylistening” – the practice of offering attention without the impulse to interrupt, fix, or advise. Through teaching and hands-on practice, you'll discover how this simple, profound act can help you experience being deeply heard, create space to listen to your own story with compassion and curiosity, transform your most important relationships, and build the trust and connection we all long for in this uncertain time in which we live.
A light lunch will be offered at 11:30 a.m. The 12:15 p.m. lecture will conclude by 1:30 p.m. with a question and answer period. Calvary Episcopal Church is located on the corner of Milton and South Cayuga in Williamsville. Entrance through the double doors off the church parking lot leads to the elevator to Hughson Hall on the second floor. Additional parking is available on the street as well as in the municipal parking lot on South Cayuga Road. For more information please call 716-633-7800 or contact [email protected]. This is a free event.
