At Cole’s Comic Zines class, students will learn how use storytelling devices, book making, and storyboarding to create a mini comic of their own making!
What's a zine you ask? A zine is a form of diy self-published book with historic roots! Students will also be guided to write a short story and will learn how to illustrate their own comic zine.
Together, we will:
Create a unique short story for each student
Illustrate their story, setting it out using effective story-telling techniques
Design and lay out zines, learning a variety of folding styles
Discuss student's storys with other campers, so they can see others' processes and offer positive feedback as a group
P.S. We encourage students to take both Comic Zines and Character Illustration. While not necessary, these two summer camps complement each other, and don't overlap!
