Comfort in a Fat Body

This is a storytelling event centering fat voices and the fat experience. With the theme “Comfort in a Fat Body”, you will hear stories told by fat people about how they have been courageous while being fat. In a world where fat people are constantly told to be smaller, both physically and emotionally, The Fat Narrative Project is here to push against that. This event is for fat people to take up all of the space, to be put on a platform, and to be celebrated. While this event is centered around fat people, especially the largest of the fat community, The Fat Narrative Project welcomes fat allies of all sizes to come and show support.

Note: This is a space to celebrate fatness and not condemn or medicalize fatness or fat people.

Event Trigger Warning:

When sharing stories of the fat experience, there may be mention of:

• diet culture
• fatphobic rhetoric
• anti-fat bias

• calorie counts
• descriptions of specific disordered eating/exercise
• dieting behaviors

While the storytellers will not be uplifting these systems and behaviors, we urge you to care for yourself, however that looks.
