About this Event
Whether you're a seasoned humorist or have always wanted to try your hand at comedy, this class will guide you through the fundamentals of writing stand-up, sketch, and literary humor.
Through engaging exercises and collaborative feedback, you’ll practice your skills, find your unique voice, and discover how to refine your comedic talents. You’ll also learn techniques for brainstorming, joke construction, and creating memorable characters.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a toolkit of strategies to keep your creativity flowing and your audience laughing. Please bring a notebook, something to write with, and an open mind, ready to embrace the joy of making people laugh.
INSTRUCTOR
David Iscoe spent the first decade of his adulthood writing and performing comedy in New York City, including for Comedy Central, The Onion, and dozens of underground shows that will be remembered fondly for years. He now lives in New London, CT and teaches at Mitchell College and Quinnebaug Valley Community College. He may also be found on occasion at Mystic Seaport Museum inhabiting various trades and characters.
