Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, alongside award-winning artist and Spider-Man enthusiast Hetain Patel and Artangel, is delighted to present Come As You Really Are ꞁ Swansea Open 2025.
This exciting exhibition will run from 15 February – 27 April, showcasing unique hand-crafted objects, with contributions from hobbyists including collectors, costume and cosplay makers, painters, crocheters and knitters, model makers, robotics engineers, origami specialists and many more.
The exhibition will be curated by artist Hetain Patel with Glynn Vivian Art Gallery and input from the gallery’s learning community groups.
Hetain Patel also presents work as part of the exhibition. A new film by Patel, co-commissioned by Artangel and partners, which explores the outstanding creativity and passion that people put into their hobbies will be on display in Room 3, alongside a selection of objects featured within it.
The exhibition is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in the City & County of Swansea (SA1-SA9) and is a celebration of hobbies as a demonstration of our innate creativity and a vehicle for self-expression.
As in previous years, the exhibition is open to disciplines from painting, sculpture, ceramics and drawing to jewellery, metal work and textiles. This year the invitation is extended to include a broader spectrum of crafts and hobbies that could include cosplay, collecting, candle making, book-binding and much more.

Mae’n bleser gan Oriel Gelf Glynn Vivian a’r artist arobryn sy’n frwdfrydig dros Spider-man, Hetain Patel ac Artangel, gyflwyno Come As You Really Are | Abertawe Agored 2025.
Bydd yr arddangosfa gyffrous hon yn cael ei chynnal rhwng 15 Chwefror a 27 Ebrill, gan arddangos gwrthrychau unigryw o waith llaw, gyda chyfraniadau gan gasglwyr a hobïwyr fel gwneuthurwyr gwisgoedd a gwisg-chwarae, peintwyr, croswyr a gwewyr, gwneuthurwyr modelau, peirianwyr roboteg, arbenigwyr origami a llawer mwy.
Caiff yr arddangosfa ei churadu gan yr artist Hetain Patel ar y cyd ag Oriel Gelf Glynn Vivian a bydd mewnbwn gan grwpiau cymuned ddysgu’r oriel.
Mae Hetain Patel hefyd yn cyflwyno gwaith fel rhan o’r arddangosfa. Bydd ffilm newydd gan Patel sydd wedi’i chomisiynu ar y cyd gan Artangel a phartneriaid sy’n archwilio creadigrwydd a brwdfrydedd pobl dros eu hobïau yn cael ei dangos yn Ystafell 3, ochr yn ochr â detholiad o wrthrychau sy’n ymddangos ynddi.
Mae’r arddangosfa’n agored i unrhyw un sy’n byw, yn gweithio neu’n astudio yn Ninas a Sir Abertawe (SA1-SA9), ac mae’n dathlu hobïau fel ffordd o gyfleu ein creadigrwydd cynhenid ac fel dull hunanfynegiant.
