Design and create flags that celebrate identity and community in this hands-on creative workshop by The Bare Project
About this Event

Design and create flags that celebrate identity and community. This hands-on creative workshop explores the meaning of symbols, reclaiming public space with messages of hope, courage, and connection. All materials and equipment provided.

In collaboration with artists Kazna Asker and Cheelo. The Bare Project presents a participatory flag-making workshop exploring identity, protest, and belonging. Through discussion and hands-on making, participants will design flags inspired by global textile traditions, creating symbols of hope, courage, and connection.

Responding to the divisive use of the St George’s flag, this project reclaims public space with inclusive narratives. The collaboratively created flags will later guide audiences to the Common Threads Festival, celebrating cultural heritage and community for women and marginalised genders in Sheffield.

As one previous Colours to the Mast Workshop participant said:

“Colours to the Mast was a lovely, relaxing workshop. Here’s to courage, connection and hope!”
