How to Run a Collective? Workshop with RESOLVE & Maia Ardalla
About this Event
Over the past year and half, researcher and creative practitioner Maia Ardalla has teamed up with interdisciplinary design studio RESOLVE Collective to develop a workshop series that shares insights into running a community-focused collective practice.
The workshop has been designed to share practical and tactical knowledge on running an organisation, allowing practitioners at different stages of their practice to explore possibilities within Maia and RESOLVE. The session format was first delivered in Brixton in 2025 and the second iteration was commissioned as a learning programme for Queer Circle in spring 2026.
On the 31st of July, Maia and RESOLVE will be hosted at Gut Level Sheffield for the third iteration of ‘How to Run a Collective?’. Here they will deliver a one-day workshop exploring the key components of building a running a collective including, developing the humanity of one’s practice, the vision and mission, understanding governance, and financial planning and funding.
They will also have the opportunity to walk participants through a digital platform grown across the previous workshops that hosts and shares this knowledge for future support.
Who is this for?
This workshop is for anyone involved in community arts and culture in Sheffield, whether you're just starting out, part of an emerging collective, or already running an established organisation. It's designed for people who want to explore building sustainable, values-led ways of working and connect with others navigating similar challenges.
