Color Theory Foundations: Learning Through Complementary Color
Instructor: Kayla Coulter
This beginner-friendly workshop introduces the fundamentals of color theory through observation, repetition, and limited palettes. Over four sessions, students paint the same still life using complementary color pairs (red/green, yellow/purple, blue/orange) to better understand value, temperature, and color relationships. The final session integrates these lessons in a full-color painting. Students build confidence in color mixing, composition, and observational skills while seeing clear progress in their work. An optional critique session may be offered for group feedback and discussion.
