Collage and Journal; Drawing inspiration from plants of the Quran

Event Information;
In this workshop set within Leyton Boundary Garden participants will be guided by collage artist Sidra Malik in creating their own journal piece reflecting on the plants around them and those mentioned in the Quran.
Sidra will demonstrate accessible collaging techniques and provide participants with journalling materials and guided worksheets to support them in the process.
This event will be held outdoors (with some sheltered spaces) please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Lastly, please note that there will be photographs taken at this event. If you do not wish to be photographed please inform the photographer and event organiser on the day.
Facilitator Information;
Sidra has been Qur’an journalling since 2020, aiming to use creativity as a meaningful way to reflect on faith. She enjoys repurposing everyday materials, such as leaflets, paper packaging and magazines, to create thoughtful and personal journalling pieces. Her practice is rooted in the belief that meaningful creativity does not require expensive or specialist materials. She enjoys transforming everyday items found at home—such as leaflets, magazines, paper packaging and scraps—into thoughtful journalling pieces that support reflection on Qur’anic verses and personal faith.
About Salsaal;
Salsaal is a fledging community of muslims who want to learn more about growing their own food. It currently takes the form of a muslim women garden group that meets twice a month at Leyton Boundary Garden.
